Mission Statement:
At Kinderschool we believe nurturing a child’s joy of play leads to increased self-confidence, respect for oneself and others, co-operation, appreciation of effort not end result, and value of participation and contribution as an equal in the group. We focus on the underling motivation of behaviour, not the behaviour itself. |

Room 1
|
Toddler - age in Sept: 18 months to 30 months
Teacher/Student Ratio 1:5 (3 teachers to 15 students)
In our toddler room we encourage and motivate children to begin doing for themselves what they are able to do (i.e. putting on coats, foot wear, zippers, hanging up coats, tidying up toys).
Our progamme offers respectful and concrete methods to help children and parents through separation anxiey and into socialization with others in a most respectful and encouraging environment. |

Room 2 |
Nursery - age in Sept: 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 years
Teacher/Student Ratio 1:8 (2 teachers to 16 students)
In our nursery room we offer a warm and welcoming environment where children are encouraged to play with and establish their own relationships with friends independent of adult direction. Children are taught to “speak up” and verbalize their feelings and to “think for themselves". Teachers focus only on a child’s strengths and in doing so children are made to feel that they are capable, they count, have courage and know how to connect with others. |

Room 3
Morning |
Preschool - age in Sept: 3 1/2 to 6 years
Teacher/Student Ratio 1:8 (3 teachers to 24 students)
In our pre-school room we give children decision making powers relative to their level of experience as they learn to assume more responsibility for themselves and their feelings. Children delight in having opinions, problem solving skills and jobs within their classroom that encourage a sense of belonging, self confidence and feelings of worth as they learn to recognize the needs of others. |

Room 3
Afternoon |
Kindergarten JK/SK - age in Sept: 4 to 6 years
Teacher/Student Ratio 1:8 (3 teachers to 24 students)
In our kindergarten room children are provided opportunities to explore their potentialities, to regard all with respect and learn how to work to gain it. Our programme focuses on social and emotional growth, the foundation for intellectual learning and democratic living. Academic excellence (comprehension and retention) happens when the student experiences a feeling of belonging in an emotionally secure community setting. |

Music

Kinderschool is fortunate to have an in-house music programme offering many exciting learning opportunities. Nyanna, our music teacher, uses traditional as well as original songs to introduce your child to a lifetime love of music as everyone is encouraged to sing along, dance along, play along, move, clap, listen, smile and best of all, have fun.

Summer
Camp |
Kinderschool offers a wonderful summer experience for your young camper, ages 2 ½ to 6 years on our beautiful “green acres” on Bayview. Camp sessions run from Monday to Friday,
9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Our programme is relaxed and operated mainly outdoors unless the heat is unrelenting. On those days we’ll cool off inside the air-conditioned school. Research supports summer camp activity as a means on contributing and retaining brain activity, and encourages play and participation with friends.

Our Results:
When children have a feeling of belonging there is no need for a child to act out. Without misbehavior much time is saved for learning and although we focus on play, the relaxed atmosphere promotes much comprehension and retention of cognitive materials. After 45 years, most of our students attend post secondary education and lead happy, useful lives. We have even welcomed some of “their” children to learn and grow within our Kinderschool community.
